Position:  Director of Brookside Kids Children's Ministry

Reports to: Lead Teaching Pastor

Works Closely With:  Church staff, volunteers, parents, and children

Hours: Approximately 15 hours a week

POSITION SUMMARY: Carry out the mission of Brookside Church through Brookside Kids Ministry while upholding our mission statement: "Seeking to glorify God by multiplying devoted followers of Christ who know Him deeply and share Him broadly."

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Oversight of all Children's Ministry needs on Sunday mornings (set-up, check-in, problem-solving, strategically visible and engaged with parents, volunteers, and children)
  • Oversight and responsibility of curriculum for ages Toddlers - 5th Graders
  • Lead a team of 80+ volunteers for all classrooms, Nursery - 5th grade and Brookside Kids Guest Services
  • Equip and empower lead teachers and coluteers; hold regular Lead Teacher meetings
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, Staff Day retreats, and be available for travel and training as needed
  • Analyze "healthy" ministry indicators and attendance on a seasonal basis and make adjustments as needed
  • Maintain and grow a joyful sacrificial, and missional culture among volunteers
  • Provide care-giving to children/families as needed
  • Maintain safety procedures and systems
  • Create and effectively manage the ministry's budget and needed supplies
  • Arrange childcare for various church events

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ

2. A desire and strong ability to disciple children

3. A strong ability to partner with parents as they pursue raising their kids

4. A strong ability to recruit, train, shepherd, and organize volunteers

5. Willingness to affirm and uphold Brookside's doctrine and philosophy of ministry

6. Background and experience working with children (preferred: background or experience in education, child psychology, counseling, child/family development, etc.)

  • Be actively discipling others as a disciple of Jesus
  • Maintain a teachable spirit, a servant's heart, and a desire to be a life-long learner
  • Function as part of a staff family: serve one another, come alongside one another, and contribute as needs arise
  • Understand and project the mission, vision, and values of Brookside Church into the Children's Ministry
  • Work cooperatively with all staff elders and ministry leaders to promote a one-church mindset
