CLASSROOMS & CURRICULUM
Our Nursery consists of children ages 0-23 months, and meets in room 120. Typically there are three volunteers scheduled to serve in the Nursery each week. All volunteers in the Nursery room are prepared to nurture, love and cater to the needs of these little ones. Volunteers are ready to start receiving children at 9:45am and all children are expected to be picked up by their parent immediately following the service, no later than 11:15am.
All of the classes in the preschool ministry are divided into three different rooms that are age specific for ages 2-5 years.
2 YEAR OLDS
The 2 year olds meet in room 106. Two volunteers are scheduled to serve each week, serving to love and train up the children with age appropriate material that will help them to develop a foundation at a young age. In the 2 year olds room the curriculum is specific for this age group, following ten basic principals for the foundation of our faith in Jesus Christ, that will prepare the children for their next curriculum set in the 3 year olds room.
3 YEAR OLDS
The 3 year olds meet in room 119, two volunteers are scheduled to serve each week. The curriculum for this classroom is material that will help them to continue to develop a firm foundation at a young age through the Old and New Testaments. It was created specifically for this age group and for the core values and movement of the Brookside Kids ministry, by the Brookside Kids staff and volunteer team.
4 & 5 YEAR OLDS
The 4 and 5 year olds meet in room 121, two volunteers are scheduled to serve each week. The curriculum for this class was created specifically for this age group and for the core values and movement of the Brookside Kids ministry, by the Brookside Kids staff and volunteer team. The curriculum is structured to teach the young children about the character of Christ and His love for us, and God's mission for His children.
The elementary ministry consists of three different classrooms. For these classes children are dismissed after the first worship song, to meet their teacher in the lobby. The teacher will escort the children to their classroom, and parents will pick up their children immediately following the service, at 11:15am.
Each week these children are greeted by two volunteers, a teacher and a helper. The curriculum for this classroom comes from The Jesus Storybook Bible written by Sally Lloyd Jones. With this curriculum, each week Kindergarteners will learn how every story in the Bible points to Jesus - and what that means for them as followers of Christ. This curriculum has extensive lessons with a variety of different activities that help illustrate the main idea for that lesson.
2nd - 3rd GRADES
Each week these children are greeted by two volunteers, a teacher and a helper. The curriculum for this classroom comes from the creator of Veggies Tales, Phil Vischer. He wrote a video-based curriculum called What's in the Bible, that leads children from the beginning of the Old Testament and through the New Testament. It is fun and interactive, and the lessons all teach awesome truths about the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.
4th - 5th GRADES
Each week these children are greeted by two volunteers, a teacher and a helper. Currently the curriculum for this classroom comes from a devotional for kids called 13 Very Bad Days and How God Fixed Them by Mikal Keefer. Through the combination of active play, games and teaching from the scriptures children in this class are learning about the Church, community, and how Christ plays a role in all of that through our time together every Sunday morning.
