Liberated from deadly desires.

This past Sundays message ‘Liberated from deadly desires’ was from Galatians 5:16-25. Below is the video of the message (still working on the quality of the recording), message notes, digging deeper notes, and video of an awesome message by John Piper that is in the same stream of thought with what was taught at brookside on Sunday.

1. You have an internal conflict that must be acknowledged.

The flesh vs. The Spirit
The flesh – the side of you which peruses certain passions and desires in illegitimate ways for contentment, comfort, or connectedness.
The Spirit – the side of you controlled by God, the Holy Spirit, which peruses certain passions and desires in legitimate ways. It also produces godly attributes, the fruit of the Spirit.

2.You will reap the consequences of your deadly desires if not combated.

The controls of your deadly desires:
1. Sexual
2. Spiritual
3. Relational

The consequence of your deadly desires:

1.Christ follower -deadly desires, the flesh, keep you from living for the kingdom of God.
2.Non-Christ follower – deadly desires, the flesh, keep you out of the kingdom of God, because you have not placed your faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your deadly desires, sin.

3. You are enabled to combat your deadly desires.

1.You are to be controlled by the Holy Spirit.
2.You are to crucify the flesh, deadly desires.
